Pastel de nata egg tart from Apgujeong Rodeo.

Pastel de nata Portuguese egg tart from Apgujeong Rodeo.

Sometimes out of boredom or curiosity, I will venture around my area and try weird things.
There is this eggtart place in my area that its so beautifully done up.
I have never seen such fancy eggtart place before, so out of curiosity, I went in to grab one to try.

The wall on the left is plastered with signatures of the many idols that once stepped in and the shop was manned by this one fancy looking ahjumma.
There are many choices ranging from sweet potato, chocolate, walnut, apple cinnamon, pumpkin but i chose the most challenging one, ORIGINAL. (2,200won).
Its a little pricey (dude, i can eat a kimbap and still have change) but, you know, sometimes you gonna need to be a little fancier in life.

After being scorned at for just buying one, i went home and happily expected the best of it.
Well, what to expect, I popped in at 8pm, in no way will the egg tart be warm. Fair enough.
But the egg tart pretty much tasted like it have been placed at the display shelf the whole day.
Unlike it real Portuguese counterpart, the layers of skin did not flake and fluff.
The taste was pretty substandard from a place so fancy.
Definitely disappointing and a waste of my precious won.

How to go : From Apgujeong Rodeo Station, take Exit 7. Walk straight and cross the street towards Uniqlo. Turn right and walk straight for about 5 minute. Turn left when you see Daiso across the street, keep walking and you will pass by a Homeplus Express. You will come to a Y intersection, keep left and you will see the shop on your left.
