3 must have apps for traveling in Seoul.

Traveling to Korea and own a smartphone?  Here are 3 must have apps to make your life in Korea wayyyyy easier. (Links are provided to their android counterpart)

1.
Metroid HD
Taking the subway is inevitable in Korea, unless you are one the chaebol's heir. Or you are a boring person with no love for the subway.

Metroid HD is pretty much an idiot proof and spoon feeding application.
You can basically check the traveling time, the timing of train, route to take and even the side of the door to get out of.

Take note : Taking the subway can be pretty messy in Korea especially since some opposite direction train is not exactly opposite of each other. Meaning, if you miss your stop, you have to tap out and tap in again, resulting in another deduction of 1050won. But if you do miss your stop, go ahead and use the luggage/child pram barrier, press the button and explain that you missed your stop. But then again, most time they will just let you pass without asking.

On a side track, Korea's subway smells fondly(or not depending on you) of a particular 1990s men's aftershave.

2.
Naver Map
This is probably the best travel app to get around with, but unfortunately, it is only available in Korean.
But if you do know basic Korean, you are good to go. This apps teaches you how to walk, take a bus, take a train and also an estimation of the cab fare.

I always uses this application to tell cab driver where i want to go and to show them how to. Despite having gps in their cab, i realise a lot of them dont like to use it and sometimes the gps might not even be updated enough to have my destination.

3.
Kakao Talk
If you want to meet Korean, chances are they will ask you "do you have kakao?" Kakao talk is the Korean equivalent of whatsapp, accompanied by extremely cute emoticon and free call over the internet.

If you are into Kpop , you can also "subscribe" to their Kakao group and get the lastest update.

Hope this 3 apps helps to ease you into the Korea culture a little and have loads of fun exploring the island ! :D
