Taking a train and cab in Tokyo.

One of the hardest thing in Tokyo, as people always said, was to take the train.

So like the idiot i always am, I manage to get myself lost for almost the first time in my life (despite being a road idiot, i always manage to make correct turns)
So, I was at Shinjuku station which is otherwise known as the mother of all train lines.
Believe it or not, Shinjuku Station has 36 platforms and over 200 exits. *mindblown*

So the story was that,
My plane was delayed and I reached Shinjuku Station at 11.30pm, just nice to catch the last train. I stayed at Sasazuka so it was one stop away, if i take the keio line. Which sounds perfectly easy. RIGHT. I got down right infront of the keio line and manage to get lost to take the keio NEW line and who knows Japan, even one track has like different train (rapid, express,mass-rapid, god-damn speed, god-damn lost). So i ended up in Chofu. Lucky me. Which is about 20mins from where i stay. And it was the last train.
Lucky oh me, have to got to take a cab.
For a 20mins ride, i paid lo and behold 5,700yen which is usd54.90,krw 57,000 and sgd 69.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE A RIDE TO HELL BECAUSE IT COST LIKE ONE.

Anyway, thereafter i had no more problem with the train rides and have pretty much master it... (although i still get confused by the rapid, express, etc i manage to just take the right one after looking at my 5,700yen flew off).

So thereafter, all my plane schedule are booked to coincide with enough time for me to go from airport to hotel and enough to get lost without having to get a cab ...

Cultural Clash in Japan.

As usual, with different countries, there is definitely cultural clash.
Here are some of the clashes I had in Tokyo ~

Electricity

The voltage in Japan is really low.
For the rest of us, who are used to the usual 220v, Japan's 100v is like a broken fan.
Things take longer to charge and hairdryer feels like a kid's toy.

Politeness/ Permission.

Japanese politeness is widely known, but the extend of their politeness when I witness it, is amazing.
When I took the train and there was an available seat, this 2 older ladies started bowing to each other, offering the seat to each other.

Solo Culture

It is highly possible for people to live on their own in Japan without having to say a word for the whole day. Which probably brings about the Hikikomori culture.
People shutting themselves and being a hermit.
When I was in Tokyo, I could order food at restaurants via machine, without saying a single word.
In fact, I could live everyday without having to say a single word.

These are some of the culture clash I had.
Do let me know if there is anymore that I have not noticed !

おはよう Japan !

Took a short 5d4n getaway to the land of the rising sun, Japan ~
The rising sun part was no joke, sunrise in Japan starts at 4am and it probably one of the thing that irks me the most. (Largely due to my bed being next to the window)
Tokyo is about 2 hour 10mins away from Seoul.
Other then the language, culture and etc, in terms of weather, Japan is pretty much like Korea.

じゃあ ~
Sasazuka Station

Akihabara ~

Alice part timing.
People queuing to get their trading card.

会いたかった ~
Went to the famous Otaku's hangout place.
Flood of nerds hyperventilating at trading cards and maids.
Cutesy girls in uniform and cosplay costume.
Unfortunately, did not see any of the Akb48 girls. ><

Kagurazaka

Went to Kagurazaka to watch the Awa-odori.
The whole street was close and the dancers lined the road.
Street food and drinks was sold along the stretch.
Pretty interesting, I must say.

Meiji Shrine 明治神宮

Went to the shrine to pray and get amulets.
Got lucky and witness a traditional Japanese wedding.

Harajuku
Takeshita Street 竹下通り

One of my favourite place in Tokyo despite the flood of tourists etc.
I love love love the vibe and the fashion here.
Must try the crepe here and immerse into the special "Harajuku Fashion".

Conbini food.

Never say no to conbini food !

MEAT MEAT MEAT !
97yen full of meat and prawn.

Caramelised Onion calbee ~

Prawn prawn !

I love Jap Drinks ! MOMOMOMOMOMOO ! (Peach soda jjang !)

Normal looking boring sausage bread, but open it up and look !
Cheese filled !

Japanese really put in effort into their food.
Can someone shift a jap conbini into Korea ? *pretty please*

Tokyo Banana !

Cheese Chocolat Sand Tree

Bought the usual overrated Tokyo Banana for the colleague.
Discover they have a new product - "Cheese Chocolat Sand Tree".
Biggest Regret ever, I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT MORE !!!
Extremely yummy ! So much better then the boring tokyo banana ~

Overall, Tokyo was pretty fun.
There is still a lot of places for me to discover~
Can't wait to go back again. ^^
